Core AEM Authoring Principles

Before we look at specific features, it's important to understand the core principles of AEM authoring.

1. Structure First, Content Second

Pages are built using predefined templates and components. Authors don't tend to design layouts from scratch - they work within structured frameworks that the client has agreed upon.

2. Reusable, Not Reinvented

Components are built once and reused many times. This keeps the experience consistent and scalable.

3. Device Responsiveness

Components are designed to render appropriately across desktop, tablet, and mobile. Authors focus on content - the system handles responsive behaviour.

4. Governance & Control

Publishing is controlled through permissions and workflows. Not everyone has the same level of access, and that is intentional.

These principles ensure efficiency while protecting the brand and technical framework.
